I found this Elise tucked away in the parking lot of an office building in the Ballantyne area last week. Always love seeing these things, and I hope to own one at some point. Also in the lot was a Vantage, two Quattroportes, and a 991.2 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, but I wasn't able to include any of them in these pics due to where they were parked.

@Horse-Power it seems like the Elise has practically disappeared from the streets. I have somehow now posted three of the last four Elise S2 111Rs on AG, and I've only seen maybe four Elises in the past year. Anyway thanks for the comment, and I can't wait to see your next post!

Cool find! Just a queston; why do you US spotters always upload the Elise's as "Federal Elise"? :)

    Amazing Elise!
@thomcarspotter I think because the Elise S1 is forbidden in the US,so maybe S2 for be legal had a federal certification for be street legal :)

@thomcarspotter @JACK888 Turin Spotter thanks guys! I'm not quite sure what the story behind the 'Federal Elise' designation is, but I believe Lotus had to make a couple of changes to the Elise S2 to sell it in America, and it was officially titled the 'Federal Elise.' I have been posting Elises under this particular category because that the category that most of the other U.S. spotters have been posting Elises in.

Lotus stopped selling the Elise in America in 2012. An exemption that had allowed the company to sell cars here without airbags expired, and since there would be very few buyers of a car that cannot be registered and driven on public roads, Lotus made the unfortunate but correct business decision. Interestingly, the last Elise that was shipped to America before the airbag exemption expired is - or at least used to be - owned by someone here in North Carolina. I got to see it at a car show a few years ago, and under the bonnet, someone from the Lotus factory had written a message that included the words "the last Federal Elise." So even in the UK, American-bound Elises seemed to be referred to as Federal Elises.
